MASQUERADE BALL – 1ST APRIL 2017
Our Lions Club Masquerade Ball was held on Saturday the 1st April 2017. The event was held in aid of the Lisa Harnum Foundation of Castle Hill. The Foundation supports and empowers families affected by domestic violence while striving to prevent and end the cycle of abuse. This is achieved through education and social change. Their aim is to be part of a community in which domestic violence is eradicated for everyone by everyone.
The Ball was a great success. Our members, members of other Lions Clubs and District officers of our District led by District Governor Lion Dennis Halpin attended the Ball. The friends of lions and the community of Hills District flocked to Castle Grand to enjoy the night and more importantly to help this great cause.
A lot of work goes into making an event of this kind successful. The Masquerade Ball was superbly organised by the Sub Committee comprising lions Pearl Lin, Shala Karan, Neeta Vanjara, Paul De Alwis and was brilliantly led by Chaminda Hindurangala.
Our club gained a net profit of well over $5,000.00. We were lucky enough to obtain a grant of an additional $5,000.00 from The Lions Follow Your Dreams Foundation. The cheque for $5,000.00 from The Lions Follow Your Dreams Foundation, was handed over to the Lisa Harnum Foundation on the night.
The club hopes to donate the net profit of $5,000.00 we made from the Ball, to the Lisa Harnum Foundation in the immediate future.
